Listening to The Ladykillers Podcast talk Autopsy of Jane Doe and I've decided that Jane was an evil woman who killed lots of children.

She wasn't a witch, but it was the only label that fit the time period, so when they finally caught her and treated her like one, they inadvertently made her one.
