I know you weren’t calling for the list to be reported.

I think I associated you with CJ popping up, and contesting that CJ was “kind” and shouldn’t be on the list. (CJ admitted to liking hate posts)

But you may be unaffiliated w CJ

I’ll not bother you further!

Mostly describing the situation.

@ s0nfgib.bsky.social is out here sending unsolicited DMs to people, writing “it’s your perogative”
then complaining about getting blocked, inventing false reasons for the block

@moderation.bsky.app: a BRIGADE is going on which is why a list to protect against that behavior is important
Boundaries!
January 18, 2025 at 11:02 PM
@moderation.bsky.app hey!

Sherry @ justiceforall.bsky.social is committing a brigade at the moment - multiple posts asking to report, multiple posts making false claims, after being blocked for safety concerns.

Upset that she’s on a moderation list, a list for people who exceed boundaries.

Just for transparency sake there is now a brigade occurring

that was egged on by CJ, the person who was out there calling themselves a “kind v gan”

So temporarily, the list IS on BLOCK - they cannot access me for the next 2 days while they actively brigade and say “nobgoblin”, then “who, us??? 🥺”

“There literally is no reason to consume animals or animal products”

starvation? lack of other options within the system, for people w/o options?

I get your stance as a belief, but it rings as classist if you cannot think of any reason for an individual to do so.

You’ve never starved, have you?

If anemia + similar health issues were addressed, nobody would be saying “for my health”
Everyone saying “for my health” - or nearly everyone - is someone with a medical condition
So dismissing them is ableism. Their treatment may be bunk, but the root cause is they do have a health PROBLEM unsolved
January 18, 2025 at 5:31 AM
If you don’t start at the root causes, you won’t change end effect

They found pregnant teens impregnated by serial adults

and used birth certificate tracking and punitive age-of-consent laws, and were able to remove the offenders so they didn’t commit serial crimes.

Halved teen pregnancy rates!
January 18, 2025 at 5:29 AM
Reviving the analogy of abstinence education and abortion reduction

if you’re saying “don’t have abortions, don’t have abortions”

but not looking at “oh, this is a teen pregnant from an adult serial abuser”
“this is someone w/o contraception IUD access”
“this person doesn’t have health education”
January 18, 2025 at 5:27 AM
Veganism isn’t going to work if it doesn’t work on its inherent ableism problem

There has to be solutions (AND respect & empathy) for treating anemia, vitamin deficiencies, respecting people with allergies to major ingredients, arfid, poverty

if you don’t work backward,
from the root health issue
January 18, 2025 at 5:24 AM
couldn’t fit it into 1 tweet, but there’s an extreme nausea condition that’s under researched, and underfunded.

So because one thing doesn’t get treated (pregnant people dehydrated and at organ failure, from too much emesis), they turn to something that is disapproved of, to help (w eed).

Anemia>🐓
January 18, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Which is why you could address the anemia crisis, because a lot of the people are moving back to eating some limited amounts of meat as an (attempted) treatment for iron deficiency or other issue.

It’s like people who smoke w eed while pregnant, NOT healthy, but they have an underlying condition.
January 18, 2025 at 5:18 AM
That’s essentially religious though - “why would someone believe in God for 10 yrs, then turn their back on their faith” - it literally doesn’t make sense

It’s a religious moral argument you’re making. Many people are former vegans, it happens, they exist

People existing in their lives makes sense
January 18, 2025 at 5:17 AM
This one, by a licensed pharmacist, was using and weaponing mental health language to send someone to a psychiatrist, for eating a meal.

“There aren’t health reasons” would have been sufficient (belief), and not hate. But telling strangers to go to a psychiatrist for that?

The ableism jumps out.
January 18, 2025 at 5:14 AM
Yeah, but it sparked a lot of hate over 1 drumstick.

I had no intention of making a list until it was the “discourse of the day ™️”, and the comments read like religious zealotry and abuse

The post liked was akin to the “you were never a Christian” comments, that some denominations do to others.
January 18, 2025 at 5:10 AM
Meanwhile I had to sift past people telling me to die… and ppl being ableist about medical conditions, like denying they exist and cause issues of access to certain foods that I simply cannot eat.

That wasn’t helpful, that wasn’t veganism in its truest form (being positive)

The friendly mentors, 👍
January 18, 2025 at 5:05 AM
The vegans that got me were the ones who meal planned, had a convo about my questions/hangups, and also recommended me their favorite brands.

Some brands weren’t accessible to me, yet they’d work great for other people.

Some brands did work for me, and that completely cut out my dairy intake.
January 18, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Yes, vegans do get a LOT of pushback from a society that is majority non-vegan.

The reactionary hate is not helping the cause, though

Being a beacon of happy veganism, great recipes, tasty dishes, healthy on the environment, easy to access, and it’ll come natural that people want to follow in that
January 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
making it hit people’s interest is the way to go:
Vegan chili (cheaper than buying meat, easier to cook!) - also tastes better

This recipe is lower in cholesterol!
etc

while not harming animals IS important, people’s motivations differ, and any reduction is good!
“This is EASIER to cook than a 🦃”
January 18, 2025 at 4:58 AM
“I don’t think the repliers comment was a good strategy” - yes, it was a hate comment, directed at someone for their meal.

and they can post hate comments on this app, and other people can add hate comments to a list, so they don’t have to see things written in hate.

Everyone has their choices.
January 18, 2025 at 4:52 AM
Like think about how much could come from “skip the turkey recipe this November! Pick pizza instead”

so *how many* entire birds aren’t cooked

Make it snazzy, make it easy, and work on incremental wins.

When people change habits, they start to change more and more habits because of initial change.
January 18, 2025 at 4:50 AM
You could respond similarly to how I’m responding now?

Just as people shouldn’t be hating on you, for your lifestyle decisions and diet, you also need to not hate on other people for their diet?

and instead highlight actions that need or could use harm reduction done
January 18, 2025 at 4:48 AM
You can discuss how those food companies ARE the problem, like how the cattle industry IS a source of animal harm.

Here’s some thoughts on how to communicate more effectively with others (calling them rapists isn’t it)

and make structural changes, that will do MORE overall good than hate rhetoric
Here’s some thoughts.

Again, this isn’t about one’s own thinking, in a closed loop with oneself (you’re free to think entirely what you wish about your own diet and choices)

but it’s about how vegan advocates interface with people who aren’t yet vegan

and how they often do it quite ineffectively
