Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.

If #HeritageWorld (including archaeology) could get its act together there would be a concerted public campaign to end the blatent cultural and environmental injustice and outrage that planet friendly lower carbon repair, restoration & #RetrofitFirst attracts VAT where demolish and newbuild doesn't.
In the UK, you could demolish a church VAT-free, but if you wanted to repair that church, you would have to pay VAT.

On Monday, Reform held a press conference to say the councils it runs had identified £330m in savings, and that it had a list setting out the details. Since then I have asked Reform several times to see the list, and have been told repeatedly it will be sent. It has still not been sent.
