October is the start of Islamic Heritage Month, and I was honoured to join the Muslim community at City Hall for a celebration by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada.
The event was a reminder of the compassion, generosity, and leadership that Muslims bring to our city and country.

It was a truly unique experience to tour Portage Power’s facilities today, the renewable energy business of Hydro Ottawa. It was fascinating to see how the historic Chaudière Falls dam, generating power for generations, continues to be at the heart of our energy system today.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to reflect on the experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities and the lasting impacts of residential schools. The City is honouring survivors by flying flags at half-mast, including the Survivors Flag at City Hall.

I had the privilege of attending a special ceremony to name a street in honour of Major (Ret’d) David M. Lewis, MMM, CD, recognizing his remarkable contributions to our community.
Organized by Councillor Kitts and the Cumberland Housing Corporation, it was a tribute to a true community leader.
