My whatever thought for the last few years is it’s a resurgence of yuppie greed mentality, people really seemed to embrace their inner prickishness over/as we came out of Covid lockdown

My most pointless transfer opinion is I don't like when a player moves to a new team and she simply doesn't suit the kit/colours (looking at you, Carpenter) but the Angel City kit looks clean as hell on Chilufya

If you've got some sour cream or neutral yoghurt in your fridge, you could always try throwing a dollop in to cool it down, or better yet, pair your dinner with a milkshake.

It’s quite a feat for Isabel Oakeshott to be the only white person in a London tube carriage given she lives in Dubai

I found folk to talk to when I was awake and struggling with my mental health, rather than just having to sit or potter through the early hours, I could be, after a fashion, social. Twitter, and now Bluesky, became the extension of that.

So very much of my current education has come online, through following and befriending people who are a lot smarter than I am about a lot of different things.

Throw in the queer message board I started frequenting as a teen or the other boards I spent time on in my teens/early 20s & I found a home

Are we including online forums as SM too...? As a perpetually online, it's hard to separate things out, Twitter was my first foray into woso which changed my entire life, I started writing again, I began to travel and learn about different countries/cultures/languages etc through the sport.

because, of course, an umlauted a in Swedish is, to an English speaker, pronounced as an e.

That being said, as we all know "häcken" literally translates as "the hedge" - häck meaning hedge, with the -en suffix counting for the definite article in Swedish - it takes me back to one of my favourite shouts to hear at a German football game, "ecke in der hecke" ("corner in the hedge")

but, ironically, the use of "spil" for game in Danish takes you right into the Germanic overlap into Scandinavian languages far better as, of course, "spiel" is game in German (hence spielerinnen for players etc)
