I’m delighted to announce the birth of my first child. I will be taking about 5 months of parental leave, during which time my office will remain open and a proxy vote will be in place to ensure constituents are represented in Parliament.

The war is Gaza has gone on two years too long. I welcome this ceasefire of course but it’s hard to celebrate after we’ve had such misery and destruction. In this war we’ve seen the worst of humanity. In its aftermath I hope we see the best.

On International Day of Older People, it is important to highlight the challenges faced by our older friends and relatives daily.

The Health Committee are currently exploring ways in which physical exercise can help as we progress into our later years.

Today marks the end of the bathing water season for 2025.

In 2022, we finally secured the bathing status of Wolvercote Mill Stream. We will continue to work together with all those who fight so hard to ensure Wolvercote remains a place to swim and play for years to come. 🏊🎣 🚣‍♂️

The two child benefit cap is cruel and punishes hard-working families across Britain.

That is why I am again calling on the Government to scrap the cap now.

UK recognition of the State of Palestine was a promise made to my great grandfather decades ago. While on its own, recognition won’t solve anything without further action, it is a down payment on peace. Today we have just a little more hope, and hope is contagious.

The Education Select Committee have released their report into the SEND crisis.

It correctly highlights the funding issues facing councils and the lack of adequate provision which is having a devasting impact on families.

Now is the time to act.

Thank you @paulettehamiltonmp.bsky.social for meeting with and raising the case of my constituent Dianne, who tragically lost her son Leon to suicide.

I welcome the govt commitment to improve continuity of care and monitoring for those discharged to the community.

Congratulations to the Surfers Against Sewage campaign who have just completed their swim along the Thames to call on the government to take action against sewage dumping.

It's time the government took action against water companies dumping sewage into our rivers and lakes.

Absolute shock and sadness at news of Our Lady's Abingdon closure, and understand the anxiety students, their families and teachers must be feeling now. We are engaging with OLA and the County Council as to what support is being offered for students now looking for new schools.

It is as bad as we have ever seen it.

The scenes of famine in Gaza are simply barbaric.

As MPs of Israeli and Palestinian descent, we hope though that recognition of the State of Palestine will serve to flame the embers of hope for peace.

With Trump boycotting this crucial UN summit on a two-state solution, Keir Starmer should go there himself and commit to recognising the Palestinian state.

This is Britain’s chance to lead on the world stage – to stop the horror in Gaza and help deliver a lasting peace.
Screenshot of a news article from The Hill titled "US will skip UN conference on 2-state solution for Israel, Palestine," by Filip Timotija, dated July 24, 2025. The image below the headline shows President Donald Trump standing beside Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a podium during a NATO summit. NATO and summit logos are visible in the background. The article notes that the U.S. will not attend the upcoming UN conference on a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, according to the State Department.

Enlightening discussion at the 3rd Oxford Sanctuary Fair in Oxford Town Hall. Very grateful to Cllr Jo Sandelson for representing the Lib Dems.

They tackled key issues facing asylum seekers including ability to work, access to decent housing, mental health support & discrimination.

One year since Oxfordshire turned orange!

A year on, and it's still the privilege of my life to serve my constituency and work with my newly elected Liberal Democrat colleagues.

I look forward to the remainder of this Parliament to fight for our community.

Mohammad’s story shows how deeply betrayed many British Palestinians feel by their government. Words alone aren’t enough.

The UK must take real action by halting all arms sales, recognising the State of Palestine, and ending trade with illegal settlements.

The water sector is failing.

Yesterday, @amcarmichaelmp.bsky.social‬ and EFRA committee published their sector reform report.

It encourages new ownership models. Lib Dems continue to call for them to be public benefit companies. The govt should listen.

Today I breathe a massive sigh of relief, with support finally confirmed for Botley Road businesses.

The whole community has got behind this campaign and should be congratulated for making this happen.

We await further details and will continue to work with businesses and residents on this.
