Teaching Professor of Literature and Composition at UW Tacoma; happily married; author of academic books; singer-songwriter at Curtain Call Records; women’s rights advocate; love nature, travel, animals, art, poetry. NO DMS!
I am co-leading a study abroad in Rome and it is kicking my butt…the word “tired” does not begin to describe. The exhilaration of watching students’ reactions to their encounters, however, makes it all worth it. 😎

I am only one chapter into this book and I am both fascinated and frightened. If you care about the future of humanity, I challenge you to read this book. Taylor brings together a wide spectrum of knowledge and research that explains how we got here and where we are headed.

I'm playing at Porchfest in Tacoma, WA on Saturday. If you're in the area, swing by to hear some Americana songs--plus, I'll be playing few songs from my upcoming album.

Thinking about the state of things in our country, depressed but not defeated! “The world seems full of good men—even if there are monsters in it.” (Mina Harker, in Stoker’s Dracula) where is our van Helsing?

Joseph Biden: You are a wonderful person, a role model for everyone, showing what it means to be a true leader, a kind and loving husband, father, and friend: you have worked hard for the American people your entire career. Now it’s our turn to support you. God bless you! ❤️🙏

From David Brooks in The Atlantic: "I Should Have Seen This Coming: When I joined the conservative movement in the 1980s, there were two types of people: those who cared earnestly about ideas, and those who wanted only to shock the left. The reactionary fringe has won." We're not giving up, though!

What is a favorite escape for you? I am listening to Book One of The Lord of the Rings. There is something so soothing about being read to. Also, where are Frodo and Samwise when you need them? Also Gandolf!

Missing my daddy today. He was my biggest fan and strongest supporter, always had the best advice. I wonder what he would say about this difficult time in our country’s history…
