Honestly just really like this whole paragraph

(Some context this is the main character of my book getting her first real look at her finished body after getting cyborged)
Emma contemplated the big glassy central sensor staring her down. It was mounted on a boxy gray head with a sloped back armoured forehead. Three smaller peripheral sensors, oriented in a triangle around the main sensor keep her in view as the head turned side to side allowing Emma to get a good look at the thick antennas for short range comms, mounted roughly where ears would have been. Her gaze drifted down the reflection in the mirror. Her legs were covered by combat pants in a splotchy camouflage in the deep greens and dark browns of an oceanic climate but she could make out the shape of her hips. Despite the armoured panels of her limbs being so polygonal her general outline, especially once hidden by fabric, had a distinct curve to it that had her smiling internally even though externally she lacked a mouth with which to express it.

Bose–Einstien (from concentrate) is a popular fruity beverage in the Commonwealth. Coming unmixed in a tube shaped bottle is a mostly a marketing gimmick but an evidently successful one as mixing up a cold bottle on hot summer day is often considered a fun and silly activity in its own right
As Emma sat herself up to put on the borrowed top Hannah returned bearing the promised beverages. They were a colorless liquid in clear cylindrical bottles with colored endcaps on both the top and bottom. She tossed one with red caps to Richards and a light orange one to Gramatica. "Please don't throw it at me," the doctor asked to which Hannah replied by winding up only to act out the throw in slow motion to gently hold out a yellow one to Roczniac. Emma peered curiously at Richards as she unscrewed the bottom cap and twisted a sort of mechanism underneath it and then pressed in this released a vibrant red syrup from a capsule into the main bottle. Richards screwed the bottom cap back on and shook it, vigorously mixing till the globs of red homogenized with the rest of the drink. "Ooh that's neat," Emma commented. "The first few times it's fun," Richards replied, "but they're lucky this shit is good cause otherwise I would not be putting this much effort in."

"Nice," Emma said, stretching her neck side to side, "how am I looking?" "a little like you're drunk," Richards answered, "but all things considered good." "We can take it as slow as you need," the doctor offered, "whenever you're ready." Emma looked down and kicked her legs, "I think I'm gonna try and stand up....” "Ok just be careful..." The doctor minded. Emma eased forward keeping a tight grip on the rail as she slid herself off. Her feet hit tarmac and she tentatively put weight on them. Her knees wobbled but she steadied herself on the gurney. The other cadets around her all tentatively moved forward ready to offer a hand in support. "I'm still good," Emma assured them as she stood up straight. She let go with her right hand and then her left. She was fine for a moment but one of her legs started shaking. Her arms flailed and she widened her stance to just barely regain balance. "I'm ok, I'm ok," Emma repeated. "Are you sure?" Ra asked, as Emma looked around at the concerned faces of her friends all just barely restraining themselves from rushing in to help.

I’m often reminded of this post
raptorific I still think it's hilarious that the reason nobody ever figures out Superman's secret identity or where he lives or what he does when he's not saving the planet, is because he already told them all the Kryptonian stuff that can't be tied to any of his human friends or family. I guarantee you the in-universe wikipedia article on Superman lists his name as Kal-El and the "personal life" section says that he lives full-time at his private fortress of solitude at the north pole. Nobody in the world looks at Clark Kent and thinks "oh my god, maybe he's superman!" for the same reason nobody ever starts to suspect that their coworker who looks KINDA like Barack Obama is actually secretly Barack Obama - They know who Barack Obama is and know what he does and they know their coworker Greg is Greg and not Barack Obama. They have no reason to assume Barack Obama secretly moonlights as Greg The IT Guy at their workplace even though they've never seen Greg and Obama in the same place. At best, "Greg is secretly Obama" would be a running joke at the office, and the same is true at the Daily Planet. "Kal-El of Krypton, who lives in a CRYSTAL PALACE at the NORTH POLE and whose dayjob is SUPERMAN, sometimes puts on a suit and pretends to be a clumsy reporter and lives in a one-bedroom walkup in Metropolis" is a ridiculous concept to anyone who doesn't already know it's true
