I've been a fan of (and now a bursar of) this org for 10? years. Quietly distributing confidence, ability, passion & potential to 1000's of ppl with creative dreams, at a time when the creative industries are underfunded and under appreciated. These kids are the future change makers. We need more.
A grassroots global majority & working class lead cause like @artsemergency.bsky.social rarely reaches this scale or lasts as we have. Please take a look at us, please donate something monthly/annually: www.arts-emergency.org/donate 🚨

I appreciate the work of these authors to show that this problem not only is still here but has grown:

As an amateur birder and a Wikipedia lover, I am so in awe by the intersection of this work. Incredible!
It took me about three months to get here but...

Here's a 🪶 for (nearly) every species of bird, with colors extracted from wikipedia descriptions.

Meet one of Syria’s “shadow warriors.”

Hassan Al Hariri risked everything to help smuggle more than a million documents out of Syria during the war. They include evidence of war crimes that could one day hold Bashar al-Assad and his top officials to account.

Ahh look, he’s just a ‘nerdy’ guy. No harm done.

You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

Teesside’s freeport, initiated in 2021 under Rishi Sunak, has cost £560 million far exceeding the standard £25 million allocation (22 times the standard £25m).
90% profits go to the private sector.
This clearly shows the UK model of State aid post-Brexit is utterly corrupt.
