It's still a work in progress, but seems stable enough for "public beta", so by popular demand here's a standalone version of the parametric clock generator I recently added to my online teletext viewer: zxnet.co.uk/clock/#templ...

Mum and stepdad are visiting today, I have no interest in football but thought I'd look up stepdad's team stats so I could go "<team name> are having a good season so far!", unfortunately he supports Wolves

But, life being stressful can make you ill. This is well known. You can argue about diagnostic criteria if you must, but you can't over diagnose anything. Either the patient in front of you meets the criteria for a diagnosis or not. There's not a guaranteed 50,000 new cases of depression a year!

Everyone dunks on Wonderful Christmastime, but I think it's beautiful that we have a holiday classic that sounds like if an armed gunman broke into your home and said "You have fifteen minutes to write a Christmas song that uses every cue on this Baby's First Casio, or I'll kill your family."

This is exactly why it’s great. It sounds like Paul wrote it while drunk. More Christmas songs should do that.

Buried six miles from my childhood home, it turned out, one of only two times something noteworthy happened in Bedfordshire when I was young (the other was Luton Town/Millwall, 1985)
One of the most beautiful bits of english eccentricity and glorious design is coming back to Sotheby’s and should be bought by a musuem (or me) for THE NATION. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Heard this the other day and it stopped me in my tracks, because I knew the chorus. Not the usual "this song is really familiar" (and it does sound a bit like The Police), I just knew the lyrics and tune straight away.

I've no new book out this Christmas and it feels weird. I'm very proud of my previous ones though and many are 30% off this weekend with the code BOOKGIFT30.

Day four of horrible cold/flu/covidy thing, now at the "finally just about ready to eat again but taste buds are shot and everything tastes like wallpaper paste" stage
