It's funny, my first job out of law sch. in 1979, at Howrey in D.C. paid 28,000. I remember my father looking at my offer letter and saying "wow that's a lot of money." The chart below (Ritholtz), shows what the top salaries were in 1979. My 28,000 $ was in the top 5%. No wonder my dad was impressed
