Finally started my holiday movie watching (late for me). 1st new one this year was Hallmark's Christmas Angel Match, which is a solid entry. A novel look at the Christmas angel plot where the main plot WAS the angels & not their earthly subject matters. Think I'll rate 'em this year: 3/5 🎄

3. When the Earl Was Wicked by Stacy Reid, a historical romance - well this is a different plot - instead of needing education on how to flirt or seduce - the usual hist rom plot bunnies, MC Verity needs tips on how to FIGHT from Earl/pugilist on the side, James.

Books I (not so) recently added to my TBR list: 1. Well Suited by Staci Hart: Contemporary romance - unexpected pregnancy: A science-minded MC who doesn't believe in love finds herself expecting after a BC failure. But the soon-to-be daddy thinks they could be something more & she's skeptical

The Men's wear guy ( @dieworkwear.bsky.social ) has made an excellent offer and I don't see any publications picking it up yet so I'm bringing it from Threads to Bluesky so @defector.com can get in on this:

Book review (3⭐ out of 5): Punk 57 is a NA book set in HS by Penelope Douglas. I binge read this one and I'd say it's a blend of friends to lovers AND enemies to lovers. These kids do not read as kids so just take that w/a grain of salt. Childhood penpals finally meet as HS seniors but only Mischa

I've also planned other trips to include points referenced in the books - like I didn't know much of anything about Mont St. Michel but after reading about it in Shadow of Night, I then planned a whole side trip there in 2023.

...something for me. I ended up going on my 1st solo trip to Philadelphia for All Souls Con and then the next year planned a 2 week trip around All Souls Con in Cardiff Wales, the 1st of the two weeks solo. I don't think I ever would have done that before the books.

I forgot this one at Homesense that made me laugh because was this satire in the part of an employee? Mistaken (plot) identity? The efforts of a bookish customer?

This was true for all the TJX stores I went in last night (we have a plaza with every TJX store which is convenient) - and just so consistently random (an oxymoron?)

That’s both great and a bummer but get yourself one of those baguettes tubes filled with melted cheese. The one thing I was most sad to miss out on in Basel! 😆

So it appears TJ Maxx is featuring a smallish book section for the winter holidays? It’s such an odd mix of contemporary, Romantasy, and then fancy classics reprints? Also one Spanish translation in the mix. I will say the discounted price on trade PPB is nice.

I really loved the first book in the Evie Dunmore series so I have high hopes for the other 3, including Portrait of a Scotsman (which, from what I understand - includes a stop at Drover's Inn which I went to! Allegedly very haunted! Maybe because of how many dead animals are mounted on the walls!

Just kidding. La Nora did it again with The Inheritance - sucked me right in in and now I must go straight to The Mirror - so slight delay on kicking off the winter holidays. But THEN it will be onto one of Jackie Lau’s holiday books
