Lmao I keep getting this kind of thing with Wii games in Dolphin, even on the latest version

Needless to say it makes GTI Club pretty unbearable

I mentioned this briefly in my last blog post, but MAME has made some pretty incredible improvements to Sega Model 2 emulation in the last few versions, today's update added texture filtering that was previously missing

I have no doubt that MAME will be the new best option for Model 2 very soon

Just tried it on Switch, holy shit how did they mess up the steering this bad

I promise I'm trying but there's barely any input smoothing, and the sensitivity setting doesn't help at all

The double-tap to wheelie almost never works either, it just doesn't register inputs

Club Drive for the Atari Jaguar, it's admittedly janky but it was a pretty early open-world driving game and managed to include a rewind function a decade and a half before GRID or Forza

Also box cat

California Speed has my new favorite rendition of Laguna Seca, the corkscrew is literally just this lmao

Honestly reminds me of Real Racing 1 lol

Yeah, it seems like the first game was briefly sold again on ZOOM Platform with some patches for modern PCs, but it got removed from there too

I know ZOOM Platform did some fixes for the FlatOut games on Steam, but I'm guessing the issue with GRID was the licensed cars

Apparently the demo is still available and searchable on Steam, and it just sends you to the delisted full game's page with a "Download Demo" button on the right

Pretty sure this was supposed to be in the cancelled IMSA game for the Panasonic M2

Really nice looking car and I hope M2 emulation comes around one day to at least make it drivable there

If I had a dollar for every 90s arcade racing game with a console port that people seem to dislike but I didn't think was that bad, I'd have $2

Genuinely shocked at how much better my iPhone 4 runs after downgrading from iOS 7 to 4, I'm surprised 7 was even released for it with how slow and battery draining it is lol

Puchi Carat on PS1, one of Taito's many PS1 arcade ports and easily my favorite Breakout-style game

It has probably my favorite cast of puzzle game characters outside of Puyo Puyo, and apparently there was a limited edition PAL release with a neat looking spinner controller

Time for another hundred YouTube videos about how "racing games are dead"

It seems like there are a number of virtual reality arcades that use Project CARS 3 and allow people to play multiplayer, pretty cool but it sucks for me trying to find an actual online race lmao
July 1, 2025 at 4:41 PM
I was looking through the files of Project CARS 3 and found this logo from when it was still called Project CARS Revolution

The name change has been known for a while but I've never seen this logo mentioned or shown anywhere, interesting find and I'm glad it was left in

Never tell them about Club Drive (from 1994)

MAME seems to support the Firecore system-on-a-chip that AtGames used, but it's only preliminary as of now and doesn't load anything
April 14, 2025 at 12:14 PM
There are a few songs I genuinely prefer on AtGames and I'd like to be able to hear them like that without pulling up a YouTube video or digging up my old system and waiting for it to charge lol

There's an emulator that supports the AtGames-developed "bonus games" but it doesn't change the sound

I love how janky this version is, I clipped outside of the track multiple times and at one point all the AI opponents just started driving into a wall

Also this is my new favorite moment in any racing game story ever

2. L.A. Rush (PSP)

Pretty solid street racer, though it felt a bit short and not being able to buy cars or manually customize them was off-putting, but I guess that got rid of any decision paralysis lol

Honestly I just wish I played the PS2 version which looks a lot nicer and less bland

1-month late 2025 media (game) thread, starting with

1. Sonic R

Way more fun than I've always been led to believe, taking different paths and finding all the secrets in each level was super rewarding, and now I'm kinda pissed that Metal Knuckles doesn't get more representation lol
