Were you wondering the same when it happened?

This seems like a hypothetical scenario but has anyone experienced this?

As scientists, we're trained to question everything, especially completely absurd occurrences 😅

Wow this is great! Our scientists working on this topic are sure to find this interesting!

✨ Microscopy Mystery Monday #3 – Answer! ✨

💇 It’s a hair strand

💡Did you know?
A single human hair can hold up to 100 grams — roughly the weight of a small apple 🍎!

Stay tuned for the next Microscopy Mystery Monday! 🔬👀

Today's German Unity Day celebrations had us showcase work from two ends of the materials science spectrum - bio-gels and batteries.

And it was all in DIY mode - Make your own Vegan Caviar and button batteries. We even had an astronaut try them out!

For the German Unity Day in Saarbrücken, we exhibited our work on Living Therapeutic Materials.
We engaged kids and grown-ups alike on how we program probiotic bacteria to produce medicines and how we secure them in gels that can be shaped in easily applicabile formats like contact lenses!

After 16 years, #tagderdeutscheneinheit (German Unity Day) returns to Saarbrücken & we're excited to showcase our new materials alongside @uni-saarland.de!

Today, we engaged the public with nano-enhanced devices as flexible electronics and seed-like sensors.

Tomorrow - Living Technologies!

Any PhDs relate to this?

A PhD can be rough, but it usually works out in the end, especially if you've friends in the lab.

Exciting times at the NextGen Materials conference by @dgm-ev.bsky.social.
Our team shared breakthroughs in living materials and learned about bioinspired actuators, sustainable fungal composites, etc.
Big congrats to Rosanne Schmachtenberg for her poster prize on living wood!
