I still look back on killing floor and payday 2 as the games that sucked me into the dopamine loops. I played them to watch numbers go up even if I wasn't having fun. With the benefit of hindsight, I now hate those games for catching me in that trap.

polyhaven.com is pretty good! Even though they're PBR textures you can probably bake them into a nice albedo if you're doing something more lo-fi

I'm really struggling to get to grips with Cyberpunk with the minimap turned off. But oh it's the best decision I made in that game, I'm connecting with the world so much more because of it.
Minimapless navigation is wonderful and more games should lean into it!

Is this performance I'm missing out on? Probably...? But probably something that'd be very hard to actually use. Letting some threads start early on the next frame sounds like an organizational nightmare. Especially when the max benefit is only as big as the black areas on this graph anyway.

Fun little extra, running this with no optimizations and gprof really slows it down... So much so that you can see where threads start to sit idle until they've all finished and they can start on the next frame.
