Whose lives did Van Velden think were overvalued? You can bet it wasn’t hers. It was other peoples grandparents, the sick, disabled, the immunocompromised, & essential workers that I imagine she believes were dispensable. Such a callous disregard for people and now in charge of workplace safety.

I saw an article refer to Emmett Till as a "civil rights icon" and I say this from the bottom of my heart:
I do not want to live in a world where a child can become a "civil rights icon" for the audacious act of dying by being Black in the wrong place. No child should have that opportunity.
