Fun = broadband NMR probes + samples with nuclei that resonate across the frequency spectrum 🎯🧲 #NMR

Good to know: a typical Varian NMR probe box (400 MHz) fits easily the trunk of a Mazda MX5!

I have had the #NanoVNA for a while to play with #NMR Tuning and matching, but I never connected it to the computer. Yesterday, I finally did it, using my Apple Macbook and the software NanoVNASaver: volpefirm.com/apps. It's very useful!

So, there is again the need for research groups specialised in design and development of probes?

Congrats Thu-Hong, @lfusaro-nmr.bsky.social, @ntumanovxray.bsky.social and all collabs) for this fundamental work on chirality in @boron-chemistry.bsky.social. Lewis acid-base pairs are controlling rotation speed at C-B bond (@angewandtechemie.bsky.social): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/....

Oggi e anche il compleanno di mia figlia Lea. Auguri a Charles, ma anche auguri a Lea 🎈

No cluster! It must be related to the sample preparation. I was surprised too, because Mateescu observed also the bulk signal in CDCl3 (MRI and the chemistry of water monomers: finding a needle in a haystack of needles). It is truly interesting!

I’m weak—I couldn’t resist! Today, I recorded an even better spectrum of isolated water in CDCl₃. 5 μL of 10% ¹⁷O-enriched water in 600 μL of CDCl₃, with some agitation for dispersion. Similar to Mateescu’s 1979 results, but the earliest ¹⁷O NMR of water vapor I know is from 1967 (Florin & Alei).

I didn't know this paper. Thank you!

The triplet is due to monomeric water molecules dispersed in hexane 🧐

Did you ever record 17O #NMR spectra? This is just an example of the water spectrum (in hexane!). I'm always astonished by his beauty 😍

Thank you for clarifying that, @sabba.bsky.social 👏

How many signal generators do you have at home? I wanted to play with transmission lines, coils and capacitors for better understanding a simple #NMR probe design. Luckily my father has (at least) three 😅

When your advent calendar reminds you that you should run some solid state #NMR experiments before holiday 😅

It's born! Our new 400 MHz is on field. Everything is going smoothly. That white box similar to a small fridge is the console 😁

Santa Claus arrived today @Unamur! We will start the new year with a new #JEOL #NMR for liquids 🍷🍺
