Testing control systems in CPS

A very interesting project at the intersection of control theory and automated software testing, combining metamorphic testing and genetic programming.

Testing CPS with Design Assumptions-Based Metamorphic Relations and Genetic Programming
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) software is used to enforce desired behaviours on physical systems. To test the interaction between the CPS software and the system’s physics, engineers provide traces of...

(1/2) Sakina Fatima just passed her PhD defense at the University of Ottawa, receiving highly positive feedback from the evaluation committee. Title: "Detection, Categorization, and Repair of Flaky Tests using Large Language Models"

(1/2) Sepehr Sharifi successfully defended, with flying colors, his PhD thesis at @uottawa.bsky.social entitled:

"Safer Learning-enabled Autonomous Systems".

Very important topic as, increasingly, safety-critical systems attempt to make use of AI.

(1/2) Rongqi Pan successfully defended her PhD thesis (at
uottawa) entitled: "Black-box Test Suite Minimization". The work is on minimizing system test suites without relying on the analysis of the system production code, which is often not possible or cannot scale.

Amirhossein Zolfagharian just successfully defended, with much praise from the examiners, his PhD thesis: "Safety and Reliability of Deep Reinforcement Learning§ Agents through Testing and Safety Monitoring". His thesis was nominated for an award!

Just did my weekly check on Bluesky. Still boring. Cat pictures, far-left virtue signaling. Not worth more than 15 min weekly. Back to X. See you next week!

Bluesky is so boring. Virtue signaling and cat pictures. Don't expect me to look at it more than once a week. ;-)

Interesting video.
And an interesting case study in economics many will study in the future ...
