I'm mostly pointing this out because a lot of dems are likely going to be primaried from the left in 2026 and you want to ask yourself if you want to make you ineligible to vote in those primaries.

It's useful to think of your voter registration as strategic. In some states it might benefit you to register as a Republican even if you aren't one.
I'm not here to say how you should register. I am saying that strategic voting exists.

Corrupt and malevolent foe and yet you think it's still possible to unite with them
I would only expect such naivete from a literal child.

You traded away something we CANT provide for each other in exchange for something we CAN. We can meet a need for food and instead you decided to sacrifice healthcare. Shame on you and all the spineless ghouls who voted with you. This shutdown accomplished nothing except withhold people's pay

What the hell are "real dangers" if not millions of Americans losing healthcare? Nationwide, private citizens were providing for each other through community because we knew it was important to stick it out. Community can't provide healthcare! You've betrayed the people who were standing beside you

It was unlikely because generally real Progressive candidates that care about the people either change their minds on the campaign trail or they lose mysteriously despite public support

This was maybe a reasonable theory before the Democrats folded on healthcare and voted Yes on this morally bankrupt funding bill in order to re-open the government. Instead, things will continue as they have

THIS. The Republicans could not pass this funding bill without Democrat support. That's leverage. Also yeah the elections aren't over yet? I live in a state where ours isn't even til NEXT WEEK

That part. There are SOOOOO many community movements near me and all over where people were helping people get fed. Community can feed people. Community can't provide healthcare.

Democrats showed voters that they have absolutely no interest in standing up to this administration. Without getting anything out of this deal, they proved the GOP right that they were to blame for the shutdown. This will not only kill the momentum from last week, it will actively help Republicans

We've spent more than a decade voting AGAINST and not voting FOR anything and life has still steadily gotten worse. We will not have more Democrats in office until they actually start giving people something to care about other than "not Trump"

Voters won't vote until the Democrats inspire them. They're tired of voting AGAINST things and want something to vote FOR. Giving in here showed voters that even though a couple small offices flipped, they don't actually care about fighting for us. They're not worth voting FOR.

The reason they're giving up is because it was finally time for THEM to lose their paychecks, when I know people who've gone without for more than a month. Must be nice

No - playing into the Republicans hands is allowing them to dismantle the ACA. As far as I'm concerned, this needed to go until they gave up first. If they care about the people, they go without pay just like the other federal employees that had to for the whole shutdown.

Something positive?? It’s in Project 2025 that they want to dismantle the ACA and Dems just gave them the green light to do so. People will die
