Have a look around the back of the buttermarket shops opposite the Ancient House. They've been like this as long as I can remember.
They are all Tudor buildings and need proper maintenance esp if you want to get city status. High profile projects are all fine and dandy but heritage needs protection

Poem title: Were We Expecting Jackboots I've long had the last two lines and this is the best effort yet to extend them into a longer poem, in this case a Vilanelle which is a mourning poem. Frankly I think the couplet works on its own. Were we expecting jackboots, Iron Crosses, uniforms draped with skulls and swastikas, When the fascists came again? Did we think they’d start with deathcamps, Smashing Jewish shops, beatings in the streets. Were we expecting jackboots? Were business suits such a great disguise Was scapegoating immigrants so subtle When the fascists came again? Were you fooled by their scaremongering Of wokeness, lefties and perverts in the loos?
