The Crown was directly the other side of the railway on the corner of John Street. Its proximity to the then Welsh National Opera HQ meant it too was renowned for impromptu performances

**Originally Andrews Hall, it opened early 1900s. Then became the Olympia before Associated British Cinemas (hence 'The ABC') took it on. It accommodated 2000 ppl

In 1976 two further screens were added. Re-named Cannon in 1986, MGM in 1991 reverting back to ABC in 1996

Closed for good in 1999

The Odeon* and Cannon** cinemas, Queen Street, #Cardiff #thenandnow

*A cinema first opened here in 1911. Reconstructed in 1936 it reopened as the Odeon and remained virtually untouched until a second screen opened in 1980. Closed in 2000 with with The Green Mile and American Beauty the final films
