It's nothing compared to what friends are seeing in Minnesota and Montana, but those are the northern lights!
I never expected to be able to see them with the naked eye in our suburb!

Just said goodbye to Jinar. After two weeks here, the group is heading to NYC and then home to Germany.
Yesterday was our last hurrah, with visits to the Inside The Economy Museum, Missouri History Museum, Washington University, and dinner and games with another host family.
Gute Reise!

We have a temporary new family member. Jinar's family hosted Matthew in Germany this summer, and this is our turn.
We introduced Jinar to some of St. Louis today, visiting the Old Courthouse, eating BBQ, ascending the Arch, and of course finishing with Ted Drewes.

Matthew's cross country season is nearly over, and he did great at conference, taking 4th place in JV with an 18:25. It's not a PR, but it's a good time on a hilly show course.
And Webster dominated both Varsity and JV as a team.

After the high school meet, there's a bunch of fun runs with little kids. The high school team runs with the little kids to help.
Here are a couple pictures of Matthew running with K-2 boys to help out.

I'm happy to say that I'll give two talks at @codemash.bsky.social, one comparing three JavaScript reactive primitives, and one about recent #Angular updates.
CodeMash is a lot of fun, and I'm glad to return. Come see us at a waterpark in Ohio in January!

Final day in Porto:
I spent the day at three conference. with mostly Portuguese attendees and with speakers from across Europe and a few from America.
We ended the night with a lovely dinner with fellow speakers Stefan and Scott.
Tomorrow is a travel day; 3 flights back to STL, starting at 6am.

Porto Day 3:
This was our last independent day together before the conference.
Most of the day was in the seaside suburb of Matosinhos, where we walked on the beach, ate seafood, and then took a surprisingly amusing tour of a sardine packing plant.

Six years ago, I taught a three-day Angular class in Porto, Portugal. Exploring the city after hours was wonderful, and I consider it a career highlight.
And now I'm going back to talk about Angular again, this time at portotechhub.com/conference-2....
Even better, Jenny is joining me this time!
