Finally got the oxblood to turn out like it's supposed to! Kind of a shame it's the inside of a planter. I'll have more fun pieces for show-and-tell later. ☺️

My first glaze firing just finished in the new kiln. It's cooling. I'm dying from anticipation. I accidentally put a 2hr hold on the last segment, but caught it 10min in so I got a little soak in at the end?

Kept busy getting storage shelves put into the studio. Finally somewhere to put bisqueware!

I spent four hours glazing this today?! 🫩🖌️
A large wall-hanging tea light/votive holder. It's been glazed with two coats of Spectrum Metallic Gold and a Strontium Copper Blue. It's got some imperfections (cracks). I'll probably end up keeping it after firing it. In progress shot of glaze work. The last time I did this design I waxed the blue glaze after applying it and was able to dip the whole piece in a bucket of black glaze. It went so much quicker, but this piece seemed too awkward and big to dip/pour.

It's a long story, but I haven't had a formal .com website for 2 years. It seems kind of necessary for artists to have an online portfolio, especially since I'm trying really hard not to use Meta. My old domain was actually available but I've moved on.

Yes!!! It was a beautiful day today with a high of 62°F and low wind. I'm happy I was able to get my raku firing done. I put the propane tank in warm water so it didn't freeze. 😆

New zine out now! The covers are screen printed by hand. 🔥🎃🍴

The new stickers are darker than I expected but it's growing on me. Definitely more subtle than the Queers Bash Back sticker which was pink and white on black.

I guess I've taken a liking to Substack. This piece talks about how much I loathe running but made a commitment to it anyway. I'm enjoying writing more despite the noisy critic that lives in my head (I know I'm mid at best, you can chill bro 🤣).

Mood.

Looks like we had our first hard frost this morning. It was a good season! I wish there were more tomatoes though.

Workbench scenes. I don't really know what the point of this is yet. In a pretty messed up rollercoaster headspace. I've got a length of maybe six feet that I hope to fit into my next Raku firing. Attaching chains to pots isn't the most original but it does seem like a direction this could go. #clay
Chain made out of buff stoneware. I guess I'm into repetition and process, in relation to the body/mind as it creates overtime, if that makes any sense. There's also something interesting about the chain itself, even if it's a little obvious. I'm aware of the things that bind me here to this place and time. I'm still procrastinating on organizing and streamlining my go-bag and escape plans. (My edible has kicked in, I'm rambling). I'm supposed to be working on "bee cups" and there are a few in the background, but I just feel like making. More. Chain. Several small lengths of chain on a table, with various tools and bee cups in the background.

Made five pints of salsa verde today. The tomatillos came in like crazy this year! I even gave some away. The squirrels took plenty as well. Made a couple pints of pickled carrots from my tiny carrots too.

Okra has also done really well this summer. We seasoned this bowl full and roasted them.
