My grandpa was born in the US to German parents. He had younger cousins who were in Hitler youth in Germany. Decades later I talked with some of them about it (with the ruthless candor of youth). Why did you do that? What were you thinking? What they described was a lot like this.
Happening now: Texas leaders announcing a rollout of a statewide program to put TPUSA chapters in high schools and colleges across the state. Gov. Abbott adds that schools that stand in the way should be reported to the Texas Education Agency.

After I had my daughter, one of the qualities I looked for in infant formula was existence, which was an aspect my breast milk lacked
RFK Jr: "All of the ingenuity of corporate America has not produced an infant formula that is superior in nutrition and all the qualities that we want to the infant formula that God made, which is the infant formula in a mother's breast."

Incredibly galling to hear Sauer talk about how the president is accountable to the public through elections, when the president he's referring to is one who attempted to illegally overturn an election he lost

not sure you can talk coherently about maintaining the rule of law without promising serious court reform
Holy shit this back and forth between Kagan/Alito/Jackson/&the SG.

Kagan: Doesn't your logic mean a whole raft of other agencies must be invalidated?
SG: Yes, but that's not being litigated right now
Kagan: So what?
Alito: What if we just want to say "but maybe don't apply our logic elsewhere?"

I want to tell one more joke about Leda. Sort of a swan song for that genre of humor.
i had an offensive joke about achilles but it would’ve been a real heel turn
I had a joke about Orpheus but I looked back and reconsidered.

The Burger King I worked at in high school had the best drive-thru times in the state, pretty much entirely on my ability to manage rush times by stacking up orders in my head, including totals and tax, without a cash register.
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

When I was a security guard 40+ years ago, a number of posts had manual elevators. I got very good at getting the elevator to line up perfectly with the floor at which I wanted to exist.

growing problem for the dems is that their voters want progressive candidates but the party leadership generally doesn't. so there's no structure to identify and vet good progressive candidates until it's too late.
The noisiest Dem primary so far is probably Maine Senate, and here for instance I think it’s useful to see that despite all the bad publicity Platner still appears to be the favorite:
