At the start of our Casting Weekend, we needed to refresh our skills and @cuddlespyro.bsky.social immediately volunteered. This thick head cast was exactly what we needed for mummfunn (X) & I to practice our skills and he relaxed into the job perfectly!

You're pretty immobile sooner than that but it just doesn't have that hollow sound it gets when it's hard which indicates it could be cut.

Once you wet it, it's firm in 10 minutes. I tend to not wet any area until it's completely finished though so it goes firm slowly from moisture in the air over 30-45 minutes. Going from firm to hard enough to cut quickly takes another 30-40 minutes.

It would appear that @lockedtied.uk has fallen and broken every bone in his body. Naturally, to aid his recovery, a full body fibre cast was required.

This is our first attempt, and I think it turned out quite well. With the assistance of @cuddlespyro.bsky.social & @mummfunn (X).

If you're happy to do commercial guided VF, Honister is great and nearer to home and HowStean is a sweet intro too. I'm told some have done Kinlochleven unguided but that's normally guided too. I'm told Dinorwig isn't available any more.

The above was all in Spain. In general, France, Italy and Switzerland have the best Via Ferrata, in my opinion, but Spain's have unguided ziplines and abseils which are rare elsewhere.
