So much this. Finding an artist whose style matches what you want makes a big difference! My favorite is when they tell me they had fun with the comm.

The experience is so overall positive I like to set aside a little bit of money for one nice comm every year, usually of my favorite LARP character from that year.

But I’d say 90+% are communicative, responsive, and make sure I’m happy with what I get. And boy howdy am I happy with all the comms art I have.

I’ve commissioned artworks from a number of artists, and the majority have been absolute delights to work with. I had one deliver late but that was due to extenuating circumstances (and they still delivered a lovely piece), and one ghost me.
