Seriously - anyone on that list, even if everything else they have done is wonderful and they are an icon I adore - deserves it! I would cry for the loss of something I loved, and I would still put them away!

We never had school plays that I remember until I was old enough to be that weird kid relegated to the chorus.
I worked my way through all the reading packets then just wrote my own stuff. Luckily my teachers were mostly of the "don't bother people and I don't care" variety.

LOL Oh, yeah. I mean, I went into school already reading, and luckily they did mostly let me read on my own. But I do think phonics made me a better reader, and this other approach would have just made me want to scream.

Oh, dear god. I was horrified as I read that, and so, so glad I apparently fell into the sweet spot and learned phonics!

Oh - word for that was "mutton".
I first sort of cheated and tried "set", and only got one meaning and no graphic, so I gave up and tried a word without a few hundred meanings.

Define garbled? I got one that looks graphically fine but is linguistically backwards (Middle English -> Old French -> French -> Modern English).

In my brief NYC experience, it was the one place I've been where the pedestrians were more aggressive than the drivers! Don't stop on a crosswalk unless you want your car punched, kicked, and walked over top of!
