It means they want us to embrace violent authoritarian populism. Maybe even civil war. Just, you know, for "our side." And that will totally go well, and not backfire in our faces at all.

It used to be the case that a mission of forming young people for leadership was understood to be exclusively aimed at boys. That's no longer true. Hegseth wants to get back something that can't be restored—the culture-wide assumption that power and influence should belong only to (white) men.
