No no no begs every archivist. You are never going to be able to find anything. Please don’t start using emojis in file names. Who asked for this? What fresh hell is next?

Opposing genocide is the moral duty of our time.

Yet Palestine Action activists have been held in prison for over a year without trial. Six are now on hunger strike.

Detaining peaceful protesters under counter-terror powers is indefensible. This is political imprisonment in all but name.

Hello, this is Didymium spongiosum, also rather unfortunately called "the dog sick slime." It resembles the "dog VOMIT slime" (see the two lower photos below), which are closely related, but are in different genera.
What you got there is a dog SICK slime mold (Didymium spongiosum). Unlike its close relative the dog VOMIT slime mold (Fuligo septica) it prefers grass to dead wood & deposits calcite on its cortex rather than piles of microscopic chalk balls. Also the surface looks like weird crumpled grocery bags

I have two - TWO - of these gorgeous original A4 meadow hare linoprints by my mum, Jo, to give away to a couple of lucky people here on Bluesky today.

Rules are simple: to be in with a chance to win, you just have to repost this piece I wrote about Jo and her art: www.tom-cox.com/the-magic-ro...

A wee balm for the soul today. I needed a “cleanse”
Of course, the actual rule is that you have to read the piece in the link, as well as share it. "But how will you know?" you might ask. *pulls mysterious face*. I just will.

A film I’ve seen more than 7 times is any film i’ve liked, because rewatching is the best way to regulate my nervous system (which i suspect is the same for many)
but in the spirit of the thing…

i just made an incredible sauce from cooking down peppers, onion tomato & garlic with oregano cumin & paprika and had it with chicken & rice . if this is my last night on this mortal coil, I’m really delighted with my lot & that was the sauce on top!

I find it astounding that content creators- some very high profile and working to give voice to marginalised folk- find it absolutely ok to use substack. when i’ve asked about their feelings on this subject the comment either disappears or goes unanswered
Hey, music writers? Get off substack! I want to be able to read your words, but I refuse to give a Nazi-permitting platform a single click.

This is sometimes read as "look 'AI' isn't working". But the opposite is true.

_This_ is what "AI" is _for_. Push down labor power, push down wages, make employment more insecure.

In Scots it’s ‘hurcheon’ which has a similar sound.

Incidentally there is no Shetland word for hedgehog, because it’s an introduced species but i feel even these ought to have a dialect name!
In Cumbrian dialects, 'urchin' is hedgehog

the entire world was once a big lake, and it was a giant hedgehog who brought earth in it's needles to create dry land

constantly terrified that people are trusting AI and not checking sources or challenging responses. Just been on another platform where a local history q was asked. someone posted an AI response which was entirely wrong. when challenged they said “i just posted the answer i got. I’m not a historian”
