It reminds me of what the X Collection did for the X games. They had an option that allowed for pixel smoothing and it looked um...well here:

That happened with one of the cookies I made (much lower stakes obv, but bear with me). I am learning how to do all this, and the first cookie I made...here hold on, this one:

I jammed that out in about 10 minutes? Bear in mind, still learning. But then I kept looking at it...and hating it (cont)

Contributed to one of those "who were your fictional crushes growing up" forum game thingies, and I was told I have a type.

I am shocked at the allegations. I see no "type", you have a type. YOU ALL HAVE TYPES.

"Oh Lucha, you have ducks? I like ducks"!

No one:

Not a soul:

Wait, maybe that was a soul? Nope, still no soul:

So biases aside, this one came out looking very close to my wife's hair. So I tend to lean heavily towards it:

but if I had to be honest, and super blunt, there is something about this sort of wild long haired look that really appeals to me on the character you have created. Definitely the longer

@cuppy.bsky.social So my wife and I used something like this:

You basically add the water to it, it doesn't need much, I think about a third, MAYBE a half? and the little metal anchors just press into the base of the stump to keep it rigid (so it doesn't go all squirrely on you in the water).

Behold, my #gamedev reading resource tree!

Well, sort of, couple of them aren't dev related. I had a lean-to sort of book shelf for a while but it's retired, due to bending the shit out of them. Not shown (but peeking out from the shelf below) are the massive C++ tomes.

Gotta find a shelf now...

Damn, that makes so much more sense then the one silhouette method. Like even with this one that ultimately became this:

I had this really strong silhouette of a back (almost hooded) element that completely didn't make the change over. Had I did the lighter silhouette, I wouldn't have lost it.

haha, or give everyone crude pompadours, also an option

I need everyone to look at this cat model they got for these cat nip treats I saw. Others need to experience this:

1992, btw: pixelart may have came a long way, but a reminder how gorgeous it was back then.

Made a little more pixelart progress towards my gamedev side quest. three more cookies added to the fray. Isolated them on the left so you can see them, and the second picture is all of the ones I created so far. A cookie a day keeps the dread away!

We getting nostalgic over here for dinner tonight. Chicken and rice casserole. Added a few broccoli florets to it, as well as the staple mirepoix blend of veggies.

While I am learning #pixelart, I did want to share some assets I am making for one of my smaller #gamedev projects. Can't really get into it atm since I am trying to decide what the game "is", but spoiler alert, it involves cookies. Here's 6 I made. The goal is to get into triple digits if possible.

The #pixelart skeleton stick man method is coming together.

Testing out drawing muscles in 32 x 32 pixel art size. It's tough, but not bad! Arms don't provide a lot of real estate when you are trying to make a really large, wide torso. Gonna block it out and see what I can do with the form.

More poses (may have to click image to see the other two):

Yeah...no, I really like this. Reminds me of when I would pose the little mannequin figure I have for reference posing. This feels right.

Hi #pixelart and #gamedev ! Last time, I was trying out the silhouette method of pixel art for building characters. I am pivoting from that to try another method that is more akin to what I am more comfortable with (building from a skeleton). Shoutout to Brandon James Greer's video on the topic!

I can't recall if I ever shared this short story I wrote with any of you before, but in the event I had, sorry. But if I hadn't? Well, here you go. Doing some winter cleaning of my laptop and sorting stuff around and it popped up lol. #writing

I have utilized concepts such as shape theory (what I alluded to) as well as silhouette studies. You can do some cool stuff with just those two foundational understandings. Outside of that, you'd be surprised what a little bit of a day leads to. This was one of the first pixel arts I did vs now.
November 13, 2025 at 10:31 PM
But seriously though. Anyone else think about what their skeleton looks like doing every day tasks? No?

Just me?
November 12, 2025 at 10:33 PM
I have painted a bird before, or at least, my attempt at one. Years ago. Here was what I came up with.

As far as pixel art goes, I am going to be sticking with it, it's been a nice break from 3d models, I am enjoying the process. Will more so even now with being able to understand how to draw 3d objects and the like much easier.

Sorry to put you on blast btw! I wanted to make sure you got kudos.

Here we go @shrimpsykate.bsky.social ! Lol, left hand smudge on "After", but anyways, the two befores were before I started learning pixel art and general perspective digitally. After is well, after I have been working. So it's dramatically better!
