I honestly try not to think about it most of the time. We got through it and got out. Surely that’s good enough. I prefer to stay on the shore of gratefulness, only dipping the occasional toe into this vast ocean of fear and despair. The depths are knowable, but I don’t want to know them.

I’m gonna get ahold of a copy to verify, but I’m fairly certain. Funnily enough, we have a copy of Smoky Night by the same author, which is a children’s book about the LA riots. Anyway, this brain itch has been with me for a long time and I’m stoked to finally be able to scratch it
