I think that part of it was that the Harry Potter fandom at the time was able to flourish bc Rowling was one of the few authors who's attitude towards fanfiction was "i don't really care what fans do" and not "lawsuit time" or comparing writing it to white slavery

It's difficult to lable her as a liberal or a conservative btw I would say that she's a centrist not because she has no opinions or takes or stances or morals but bc her views are so all over the political spectrum that I think if she took a political compass test it'd balance out into 0,0
