Depression can make the smallest things like cleaning the dishes so overwhelming. You start to avoid these things, not because you don't care, but because everything feels like it's too much... beyond what you're able to do. And the more you avoid them, the more the chores pile up, and the heavier the weight of depression feels. Depression is sneaky, it sucks you into these cycles and you get stuck there.

Radiate Kindness "Today I went to Dunkin' Donuts and saw a clearly homeless guy sitting on the side of the road and picking up change. Eventually I saw him stroll into Dunkin, as he was counting his change to buy something I began to get super annoying and talked to him over and over again even when he didn't really want to talk. Since he had maybe $1 in change I bought him a coffee and bagel and asked him to sit down with me. He told me a lot about how people are usually very mean to him because he's homeless, how drugs turned him into the person he hated, he lost his mom to cancer, he never knew his dad and he just wants to be someone his mom would be proud of (along with another hours worth of conversation.) This lovely mans name was Chris and Chris was one of the most honest & sincere people I've ever met. After realizing I really need to get back to class Chris asked me to wait so he can write something down for me. Handing me a crumpled up receipt he apologized for having shaky hand writing, smiled, and left. I opened his note and this was it. 'I wanted to kill myself today, because of u I now do not. Add a "joy addition" to your everyday tasks or activities For example, if you're showering, a "joy addition" may be playing your favourite artist, or on your commute to work you may listen to an audiobook you've wanted to hear for a while

5 Strategies To Help You Find Joy When You're Depressed: 1. Make a list of your "little accomplishments" When you're depression tired, overwhelmed, and apathetic, everything can feel difficult. By writing down and ticking off the "little things' you do (e.g. making your bed, paying a bill, washing your hair), you will feel more uplifted and better about yourself. 2. Mindfully bring awareness to the things that are make your situation better By bringing awareness to things that serve your needs in this moment, you can find those glimmers of light when everything feels dark. For example, acknowledging the comfort your bed/ couch provides, a streaming service that helps you distract yourself, or your pet that makes you feel safe

DELETE, UNFOLLOW, UNFRIEND BLOCK, ERASE, and DISCONNECT from anyone and anything that robs you of your peace, love and happiness. Not just on social media, but in REAL LIFE too. You don't need to be around people who don't see and appreciate your value. Life is already heavy. I don't need anyone adding more weight. I want people who bring peace, not pressure - lightness, not stress. If your presence costs me my peace, I'll choose peace every time. My mental clarity, my energy, my peace- they matter more than keeping someone who drains them.
