And Alastor was the one to properly/ consistently teach her English just by talking to her even if she couldn’t understand fully yet (which is the best way to learn a language btw, at least for children, I mean— that’s how we all learn our languages at first cause we’re surrounded by it XD)

In the original story they only know each other as children for one afternoon cause Maria runs away and then they meet again as young adults
But i also have an AU of sorts where there got married before afterlife already and in that they kept in contact after their first meeting as children—

Also most people have lost the ability to have civil discussions too
because of all that black and white thinking and unwillingness to listen to what the other party has to say
everyone is only fighting anymore and that is just tiring

cause it has become way to easy to only surround yourself with people who share the exact same views as you and that just completely hinders personal growth
