It's a tough one. Rust out fast on a beautiful tropical island, or struggle through the mountains, falling apart over a decade (and still get blasted with road salt every so often) ... n_n;

"Fuga: Melodies of Steel" has 'France' being invaded by 'Germany', with the captives being sent to labor camps or undergoing forced experimentation - admittedly more like the second war. The latter two games go a bit off the rails, but use the same setting.
