I never read this book so I decided to give it a try and the first exercise is a self-portrait which reminded me that I did another one 3 years ago when I started studying drawing.
so here is a self-portrait comparison of a couple of months to 3 years drawing.

traditional self-portrait that I did 3 years ago when I started studying drawing. I was doing live model drawings for a couple of weeks at that time I think.

just checked on the internet archive. you are right, that's very confusing
even more because the lock folds seems describes the same fold type as the half lock from dawing from life

i actualy have the book right here besides my desk
Bridgeman calls then half locks, there is no reference to lock folds
page 332 for the folds diagram and 342 for half locks specifically (Bridgman's complete guide to drawing from life)
