Ada Deer became the first Native American woman to serve as Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior (1993–1997). She was a groundbreaking leader, advocate, and educator from the Menominee Nation in Wisconsin.

Walter Bresette was a proud Red Cliff Ojibwe leader from Wisconsin who devoted his life to protecting Native sovereignty, treaty rights, and the environment. In 2024, he was posthumously inducted into the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame in recognition of his lasting impact and leadership.
