I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Hadeel. Before the war Hadeel’s husband was a fisherman and they tried for 11 years before they had their first child Hani who is 10 now they also have a daughter Dana, 6 and little Adam who is just 2. They’re displaced and struggling.

In line with this, the banning of Palestinian accounts is a major issue, especially when users are taking their own steps to painstakingly verify their identities. Palestinians are undergoing a genocide and rely on social media to share their stories and get donations for basic necessities.

Additionally, there have been concerns about moderation targeting marginalized people, as well as failing to remove users who violate policies meant to prevent hate. The concerns about racist and otherwise discriminatory (mis)application of rules are ones that cannot be ignored.
