I think the obvious answer to the idea of a “desert island” filmography is Nicolas Cage. He has worked in literally every genre multiple times & had amazing highs & fascinating lows in each. He’s worked w/ legendary filmmakers & also creative novices. His body of work is a snapshot of cinema itself.

Wrote this one a few years back. I heard Abba's Dancing Queen was so successful because they started with the chorus hook so I decided to do the same. When writing it was trying unusual chords and lyrics, and listening to The Shins a lot. So, this is my Dancing Queen! Please listen, smash that like

With WAKE UP DEAD MAN, Johnson has crafted his best KNIVES OUT script yet—a sermon disguised as a whodunit. Unfolding in a space defined by faith is a story about belief; that slippery, treacherous thing that binds people and breaks them. My review: www.peliplat.com/en/article/1... #FilmSky

First episode there's a Spinter agent with a pair of tonfas fighting a group of goons in an elevator. Then we get old man Sam with his dog on a farm obviously out of the game before he has to fuck up a squad in a classic farm siege. Feels like this was custom made for my tastes specifically.
Sorry, there's an 8 episode animated Splinter Cell series that came out this year and has Liev Schreiber voicing Sam Fisher? Holy fuck that is cool.

I cannot even begin to express my rage at this lie

reading this through me back into my pandemic EMT life, attempting to resuscitate a child experiencing a cardiac arrest secondary to COVID while a father says “we heard that the vaccine was riskier than COVID for kids” and a mother wails in agony
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

No. The Thing is a movie about a bunch of people who all distrust and hate each other trapped in one building as the tension between them slowly builds until it reaches a breaking point. It's a Thanksgiving movie.
Should John Carpenter's THE THING be officially classified as a Christmas movie? Let your voice be heard!

A jam for your Sunday. I tried to make the lyrics kind of psychedelic. My work is wallpapered with Peanuts cartoons. Before the second chorus I played a snippet of my vocal backwards, and it sounds like "Space Space Mayonnaise", check it out

People getting rabid over movies & filmmakers failing their purity tests and I dunno man. It’s movies, not global politics. If Eric Trump decided he wanted to direct action movies I bet I would watch that shit religiously. Movie stars are knuckleheads. Studios are evil. Find your heroes elsewhere.

This translates to “tailor-made for me!” Got this queued up for a couple watches this weekend. I’ve been begging for years for someone to get Daniel Bernhardt back into a lead role and it’s finally here. And hey look, BSky’s favorite exiled son, Patton Oswalt is along for the ride. Can’t wait!
Ever wonder what Conan directed by Sam Raimi would look like? Especially if it featured amazing practical effects and starred one of the foremost ass-kickers in the business? Then Steven Kostanski made just the flick for you. This thing was engineered in a lab for me to love it. Fucking fantastic!

the idea that lots of gamedevs are secretly using ai is booster bullshit

what on earth would I use genAI tools for? Coming up with ideas? Writing? It’s shit at those

making 3D models? Coding stuff? It’s shit at that too

oh but it’s faster maybe? Did I mention it’s shit at things?

seems important
