building identity and community around who you’re attracted to? vital to our organising, activism, communities and survival.

building identity around how you’re attracted to people? self indulgent, individualist and politically completely useless.
December 3, 2025 at 8:29 PM
so when you redefine sexual orientation to mean not who you’re attracted to but how, you’re just displaying your ignorance of historical and societal context of gay, lesbian and bisexual communities and your ignorance of why they are still vital for us today.
December 3, 2025 at 8:29 PM
these historical labels and movements exist because they are how we survived, they are why we are here and why we have the rights that we do.
December 3, 2025 at 8:29 PM
lesbian, gay and bisexual movements? were created to stand up to that oppression, reclaim and redefine the labels that were forced onto us and fight for our lives, our safety and our dignity.

How and why would bisexuality reinforce binaries when binaries are the main reason bisexuality is so oppressed and invisible?
December 3, 2025 at 4:24 PM
To accuse bisexuality of being binary because of its prefix is to display a complete ignorance not only of bisexual history but of the nature of bisexuality itself.
December 3, 2025 at 4:24 PM
A lot of these bisexual books also talk about the natural alliance between bisexuality and trans identities (including non-binary ones) because they both occupy the same liminal space and undermine the same binary frameworks.
December 3, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Bisexuality is inherently liminal and one of the reasons why bisexual erasure is so prevalent is because its mere existence threatens a society based on heteronormativity and the gender binary.

so when you’re accusing bisexuality of being binary you’re missing the whole point because you’re looking at it through the perspective of the wrong axis (gender instead of sexuality)
December 3, 2025 at 4:23 AM
bisexuality is not only just as subversive as non-binary, it has also always shared a natural alliance with non-binary because they’re parallel to each other
December 3, 2025 at 4:23 AM
they’re both erased, fetishised and misunderstood because they’re seen as both/neither/in between the binary options.
December 3, 2025 at 4:23 AM
a lot of the problems that bisexuals and non-binary people face are similar because they share their position on their separate axis, they’re both accused of not being real, being a trend, being temporary or a stepping stone,
December 3, 2025 at 4:23 AM
non-binary exists outside the gender binary, outside of male and female. bisexuality exists outside of the sexual binary, outside gay and straight.

I'm begging you, please stop telling people that struggling to accept you're LGBT isn't a thing and that we should just try on new, less stigmatised labels that help us run away from stigmatised old ones instead of facing our own shame, guilt and internalised LGBT-phobia.
December 3, 2025 at 4:11 AM
as if shame, fear and internalised stereotypes about LGBT people aren't feelings that influence what we want to call ourselves and how we want to present to the world...
