Yeah the founders would hate a brutally racist rich white man with evil opinions about women, they'd see nothing of themselves in him

I don't know how to do it but we have to teach liberals that current bad things are not random quantum events, but the culmination of systems and policies put in place to create them. Trump and the SCOTUS are the system working as intended: protecting and empowering capitalist swine at all costs.
As others have pointed out, the founders never foresaw a corrupt president (which we have) abusing the pardon power to absolve all criminals and miscreants for any reason, nor did our Daffy Duck Supreme Court ever think it might not be a good idea to put said president above the law.

I was getting ready to take them back to the studio, but they're too snuggled and happy in my bed.

The climate people who don’t make this case are probably put off by the call for public power and critique of private utilities. For some, the end of the world is easier to see than the end of capitalism.

There’s a lot of angst about climate not being at the forefront anymore but this issue is squarely a climate issue and every climate person should be able to make that case/link.

And, hell yeah, public power!
Electricity is the new price of eggs.

Voters need your political position on the price of electricity and utility bills.

A real solution? Publicly-owned utilities.

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

Direct action is not designed as spectacle for media consumption, unlike large peaceful protests which are, deliberately, a spectacle.

The editorial desks at major media outlets are incapable of grasping the difference. Direct action scares institutions because it threatens the order they sit atop.

And this is how you do it. Committed advocacy, data-driven, using one's expertise to amplify *how* a horror unfolds & proceeds go to those affected.

Looking forward to this book.
I wrote a book about US media’s complicity in the Gaza genocide. It's available for pre-order. It’s a data-driven and, I hope, thorough account of how center-left media sold the American public on mass death in Gaza.

Out 4/21. 100% of royalties go to @mecaforpeace.bsky.social.

And, of course, fossil CO2 emissions continue to rise globally and have not yet peaked. The road is long. bsky.app/profile/glen...
📢Global Carbon Budget 2025📢

Fossil CO2 emissions continue to rise in 2025 while the terrestrial carbon sink recovers to pre-El Niño strength.

The key findings are covered in two reports this year:
* ESSDD (preprint): essd.copernicus.org/preprints/es...
* Nature: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

“Even if fossil fuel emissions were eliminated immediately, emissions from the global food system alone would make it impossible to limit warming to 1.5°C and difficult even to realize the 2°C target…major changes in how food is produced [and consumed] are needed…”

I've been saying for months that the institutions bending to the loser tyrant's will have been complicit rather than cowardly. People keep saying 'why not both?' and I need to say that this misreads the situation which is that many of these institutions ARE CORRUPT, lol.

I've seen a fair amount of "if you take a nuanced approach/give them the benefit of the doubt/provide lots and lots of context" in defense of both the New York Times and the national Democratic Party and I guess my question is, what have either done in the last decade to earn that?
