Heading home after two days in Leamington recording an episode of CBC Ideas about migrant workers with the legendary @nahlahayed.bsky.social. This town smells like tomatoes.

To the comedians surprised by all the American chain restaurants in Saudi Arabia:

Yes, Saudi Arabia imports the very worst of American culture. Why do you think YOU’RE there?

The Ig Nobel is incredible , one year an Indian guy won it for calculating the average surface area of an elephant and during his acceptance they had an elephant hold up a sign with the surface area of the scientist on it, they do showbiz better than the Oscars

Video: a Japanese scientist was attacked by flies while giving the acceptance speech for his Ig Nobel Prize-winning research paper that proved painting Zebra-like stripes on cows led to a decrease in biting fly attacks.

Fascinating story by @vernadette.bsky.social. Many travelers will recognize this behaviour of Israeli tourists all too well.

Siargao, a small island in the Philippines’ Mindanao region, might seem far from the Gaza genocide. But as the island becomes a popular spot for Israelis completing their military service, local Filipinos are starting to reject Israeli tourism.

Hello Canadians. Today I'll be doing four hours of back-to-back live interviews about Precarious on CBC's local drive-home shows. I'll start on the east coast and swing west. My talking points will be polished by the time I talk to Victoria, and my voice sexily hoarse.

I doubt it. They will all be obedient little boys and girls for those fat paycheques.

Today is the release date for Precarious. The book is officially birthed after more than four years of labour, and just as stories about migrant labour top our news feeds. I've accidentally written a relevant book. Thanks Poilievre!

Check it out if you can. If you like it, tell someone else.

"The #education of children must be part of any agreement to end the war in #Gaza. The proposed plan must offer some hope to more than 660,000 children out of school for the 3rd year."

Photo of three copies of Marcello Di Cintio's "Precarious: The Lives of Migrant Workers" laid out beside each other. In white text over the photo reads: "Welcome to work but not to remain. An introduction to Precarious: The Lives of Migrant Workers by Marcello Di Cintio."

I wonder how many of Poilievre's constituents see the irony of being lectured about the ills of foreign labour by a recently unemployed man from 2,600 kilometres away – about as far from the riding as Chihuahua, Mexico – who showed up to take the job of a local resident.
Opinion: The temporary foreign worker program has never been easy to defend. But it should be reformed, not scrapped
Workers should be unshackled from their employers, and granted reliable pathways to permanent residency

Spain and Italy are sending warships to protect unarmed citizens bringing aid to the starving people of Gaza.
Israel is a terror state engaged in deliberate mass starvation and killing of civilians.
We need full sanctions. Full boycott and international action to end the genocide.

Today I’ll be interviewed and photographed by The Herald about the new book. I’ve received wise counsel not to reproduce my look from the last time. According to my fashion advisor, @plynn.bsky.social, "That jacket is three sizes too small for you. You look like a body builder at an awards show."
