Independence Day, as the country burns from arson and our brothers starve in captivity.

For Israelis, independence isn't just something we've "achieved," but something we have to fight for constantly.

Some days, it feels like too much.

On Workers Memorial Day, we mourn the 385 American workers who die every day due to dangerous working conditions.

Meanwhile, Trump put a former Amazon exec in charge of worker health and safety and will shutter 11 regional OSHA offices.

Make no mistake: these moves will cost workers their lives.

Pay double and you don’t have to hang out with these guys.
Trump has set up a new club where CEOs, tech bros, and foreign oligarchs can pay $500,000 to join in order to get access to the Trump Cabinet who will all be there regularly.

Just because the grift is all public doesn’t mean this isn’t the most corrupt White House in history.

This is all very reasonable though unfair to Chamberlain who, mistaken though he was, tried to appease —before— a war. Trump is siding with a fascist aggressor after three years of war.

Trump's incompetence is everywhere.

His regime can’t keep military secrets. It can’t maintain financial stability. It can’t protect children from measles.

While we resist Trump’s authoritarianism, we also need to highlight his utter inability to govern America.

Is abduction the new normal? I saw this happening many years ago in Argentina. A lot of people would say “they must have done something” to legitimate it in their own eyes and appease their consciences. Congress intimidated now and judges targeted as well. The whole script. What else is needed?

A new report has come out showing that the Netherlands has had more antisemitic incidents in 2024 than ever before.

It's an increase of 11% from the previous all-time high.

The data shows time and again that antisemitism has skyrocketed around the world since October 7th.

Trump’s "peace plan" for Ukraine was always going to be to try to break the international order, give a victory to Putin, and blame Ukraine. The underlying reality is of a war Ukraine must fight because it is under continuous bloody assault.
I've been asking this question for some while.
One can hope it will be the end of arguments. And *finally* the organizing of a united democratic front of opposition to U.S.-Russian entente. The key question is if any Republicans here will join a united Democratic front. One can hope but not expect.
Latest in @theatlantic.com . Trump's plan is a no win for Ukraine. Whether Ukraine agrees or not, Trump will end sanctions on Russia and get back to business with Putin. Can we finally hear the end of the arguments that Trump is anything but Russia's ally?

Six million Jews murdered. What does it really mean?

In 1945, it meant 63% of Europe’s Jews were exterminated. 36% of the world’s Jewish population was gone.

Today, six million means the entire population of Toronto erased. Or all the people of Denmark killed.

That’s genocide.

Abrego García was sent by mistake to a prison in El Salvador. A judge ordered the plain tu return. It wasn’t done. The SCOTUS ordered for the prisoner to return. President Trump brought President Bukele of El Salvador to the Oval Office to say he cannot send someone illegally into the US.

Trump will reportedly end the IRS Direct File program that allowed taxpayers to file taxes for free.

This comes after Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, lobbied the government for years to block IRS free file.

Intuit donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.
