Trump's "Order of Lenin"-style awards keep piling up. He needs pins like Brezhnev's rather than trophies, or else he's going to need a bigger room to display a his "well-earned," "lifetime achievement" awards. Maybe this is why his new building is a "ballroom": FIFA gave him a soccer award today.

The Maine 6th: Cannonballs on a plinth. The monument at Gettysburg. I've visited ancestral spots before: Minsk, for one. At Gettysburg I got weepy: if something had happened to my great-great-grandfather at that battle, I would not exist, as his daughter (my father's grandmother) wasn't born yet.

Two years ago on my birthday, I responded to a food photo posted by the great @nigella.bsky.social with, "This looks perfect for my birthday today." Her account wished me a Happy Birthday, which moved me deeply because of life-things at that moment. It's a sweet gesture for which I'm ever-grateful.

Cloudy night in New Paltz, but the photos tonight are amazing. The May 2024 event provided me w/ my first-ever view of the Northern Lights. (I was far enough north only once in my life, in 1989 in the USSR, but we didn't see anything.) May 2024 (you can see it was a clear night as there are stars):

1996-98, I lived in the red brick building, on the 2nd floor facing the street. The blueish building beyond it (toward the bridge!) had the newspaper's office on the ground floor. My office was in the back of that, overlooking the Big Eddy part of the Delaware. My apartment only faced the street.
