With Markify, my strategy has been making the tool free for teachers, then having interested districts pay for PDs and admin settings.
This model has been day 1 sustainable. While I could see new paid offerings in the future, this model has worked well enough to keep the free tool, well, free.

Markify is (in my opinion) a high quality tool and free, so I feel like saying a few words on this:
I think the root issue isn’t the free product part, it’s the sustainability part.
Too many companies start free to gain users without any plans of being day 1 sustainable. That’s why this happens.
