I joined the RSPCA again for their Christmas Fair to recognise Iona Dickens for her outstanding record in managing the ecommerce operations single-handedly; what commitment!

Look forward to continuing to support the RSCA for years to come.

The law must change in this area and I won’t stop until it does.

As for yesterday, I’m very grateful the minister agreed to meet with them and I do want to say thank you to LNER for agreeing to provide free travel to Cody, Liam and Zoe for this incredibly important meeting.

- A cross department meeting between the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government and the Department for Business and Trade will be convened in the next few weeks to address this issue as it cuts across all of them.

- The Law Commission is going to carry out its own work on ‘offences against dead bodies’ which will then make recommendations to Government. There will be a consultation on this, dates to be announced.

The next steps are as follows:

- The Government’s interim response to Phase 2 of the Fuller Enquiry (which recommended licensing of Funeral Directors) will be published by Christmas and the full response by Summer.

No one should have to suffer through what they experienced following the loss of a baby. As the minster said, the situation is never acceptable and the law must change.

The presentation was given by Chris Shilton, their Great Nephew, who travelled from Preston to be with us.

I was proud to lay a wreath on their grave today.

I commend them both, along with all service men and women who have sacrificed so much for the freedom we enjoy.
