Enjoyed the surprise film at the London Film Festival last night, which was a genuine surprise as I knew nothing about it - Daniel Roher's first fictional film TUNER, starring Leo Woodall as a piano tuner with acute hearing who gets caught up in criminal safe-cracking. Fun stuff

Great kick-off to the London Film Festival last night with the new Knives Out film WAKE UP DEAD MAN. Another intricate, clockwork puzzle script that manages to skirt deeper themes about death while still being political and funny. Please make a fourth one of these @rianjohnson.bsky.social

Wanna fall in love with movies again?

As we get surrounded by sequels and AI slop, go and watch ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER if you'd like reminding of what proper filmmaking is.

Thrillingly made stuff, and could not be more politically topical. See it on the biggest screen you can

Tonight I sat in a theatre bar and two white people insisted to me that blackface was actually pretty funny, black people weren’t actually offended by it, and the pushback against it was all from white people “just looking to be offended”.

Ah yes, the notoriously liberal arts

Finished watching the second series of WEDNESDAY on Netflix, which got me thinking about the franchise as a whole. 30s comic strip, 60s TV series, three 90s films, a stage musical, two recent animated films, and now this. Nearly 100 years of a pretty simple idea. And more to come

White people, who have said nothing about the genocide of non-white people, getting upset when one single extremely racist white man is killed, should sit down and think about how that looks

Delighted to report that, having screwed up the finale of their last two attempts to end this show, the last episode of DEXTER: RESURRECTION bucks the trend and is supremely satisfying. Would devour a second series of this if they end up making one, greenlight it please x
