CCS is a failed technology and a false solution, which will keep us locked in to expensive, polluting fossil fuels
The ETZ is a disaster for local people, passing a community resource into private control.
SNP Govt's plans to get to net zero are based on fantasy and denial.
We deserve better.

It would be good to think this could be the end of this project. It is a false solution that will take up too much public money that would be better used for proven solutions. Funds could be directed towards retrofitting our homes and domestic solar/battery installation.

Plans to build a new gas burning power station at Peterhead are entirely reliant on Acorn project.

This decision puts that project in even greater doubt.

Ministers must reject Peterhead 2 and instead focus on climate solutions that improve lives - warm homes, decent buses and real green jobs.

The Scottish Gov's new Climate Plan is dangerously over-reliant on carbon capture to make its sums add up.

Ministers have made a huge gamble that carbon capture can make massive emissions cuts in the next decade.

And now the main corporate backer has walked away.

Carbon capture & storage has never delivered on its promises. Anywhere. Ever.

The world's biggest CCS project was recently revealed to capture just 2.66% of the total emissions from extracting, processing and burning gas from the Gorgon fields in Australia.

I am wondering if this is to do with preparing pipelines to carry C02 in order to facilitate the false and expensive solution of CCUS? I am only speculating, but would like to know. The outcome of the testing of the pipeline from Grangemouth to the proposed new Gas Plant in Peterhead is a mystery.

I thought their role was more ceremonial, but maybe I have that wrong. I just thought it was interesting that Susan Aitken, Leader of the Council was asking for devolution for Glasgow, which is what seems to be happening with the mayoral roles in England.

Interesting. I was at the Scottish Towns Conference in Glasgow last week and Susan Aitken, Leader of GCC + SNP, was calling for devolution for Glasgow. She didn't use the word Mayor, but I guess that's what she meant.
