Could also be he was at the end of his rope, couldn't deal with being screwed over by the people he helped (and for that was banished from his homeland). Or maybe he wanted suicide-by-cop, but in this case "soldier". If he's Epsteined we'll know, won't we. If they have to keep him from talking....
