Foreign languages are more useful than some of the popular “practical” degrees. Business administration and accounting majors are a dime a dozen. An American who speaks two or three languages fluently stands above the crowd and can work in many different fields.

I'd love to read something like that! But what I'd really be interested in is a historiography on ancient Greek sources — treating what was objectively a frontier backwater as the center of the civilized world.
